During the opening week, Tijuana Flats is promoting its signature specials, Tijuana Tuesdaze (two tacos, chips, and a drink for $5.49) and Throwback Thursdaze (burrito or bowl, chips and a drink for $5.99), which will be available at the Richmond store every week on these days. The event is the first of several planned for the Richmond area. The new store spans 2,767 square feet and has a seating capacity of 71. In addition, 20 percent of the sales generated on Saturday, April 21 will be donated to the Children’s Hospital. Through training meals conducted prior to opening, Tijuana Flats has already raised about $1,000 for the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, which the restaurant has selected as its community partner through its “Just in Queso” foundation. We see a lot of future ‘Flatheads’ coming out of this market.” “We are excited for our new home and can’t wait to start serving our always-fresh Tex-Mex to the hungry people of Richmond. “Richmond is a vibrant and exciting town that's not afraid of having some fun, making it the perfect place to introduce the famously ‘Flat Outrageous’ attitude that Tijuana Flats is known for,” says Adam Moore, area supervisor. The huge, colorful taco, avocado, and other Tex-Mex piñatas were stuffed with sunglasses, beer cozies, coupons and other treats from the new restaurant located at 4925 W. Tijuana Flats opened its first Richmond, Virginia, location with a splash, as excited residents followed clues from select radio station and social media to locate and bust open one of a dozen giant piñatas that popped up in locations ranging from VCU and the University of Richmond to the Children's Museum and Lombardy Park.
